I it legal to cut down a 100 year old Granada tree from the back yard of a LA, CA home? Is a permit required?
I loved that huge shade tree. It broke my heart to see it go. I want to know if my new, rude neighbor broke the law.

- Wow, you are Californian, aren't you. luckily for you, I don't think in California its not legal to do anything but hug that big chunk of firewood. Just face it. The tree is gone and you can't do anything about it. Besides it's not as much fun to get them in trouble with the law as it is to just get even. Go buy some barn tin and errect yourself a shade wall where the tree used to be. You can even paint a tree on your side of the wall if you like. Don't forget to get a permit first though. Be sure to make the other side of the wall some bright orange or something. That'll make them real mad.
- Okay I'll bite. What is a "Granada" tree? I am a landscaper of 14 years in SoCal and I have never heard of one. Must be an eastern common name. I even googled it without luck. What is the botanical name? In my experience one only gets fined in SoCal for removing Oak trees. Sorry for your tree loss.
