  1. Let me get this straight. You´re looking for the nearest train station to Sta. Amalia, right? If I remember correctly, there is a direct train from Sevilla to Mérida. But that was many years ago. Try Renfe.com Here´s the page with the actual line on it. http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/index.jsp?page=hjhir130.jsp&O=51003&D=37500&AF=2008&MF=MM&DF=DD&SF=NaN&ID=i
  2. Yes you can. But it's not a quick journey. You take the train from Seville (Sevilla Santa Justa) to Merida -- the journey time is just under five hours; cost is 12.80 euros. Then you take the local line from Merida to Don Benito, which is the nearest rail station to Santa Amalia. That's a 40-minute journey costing 3.15 euros. I got the times and prices from the Renfe website (official Spanish rail website) -- http://www.renfe.es/index.html but it's only available in Spanish. However, Renfe does have a London-based office: phone number = 020 7725 7063. You may also be able to book the whole journey through Rail Europe, the biggest (and usually cheapest!) agency in the UK offering tickets to Europe and within it. Prices are given in pounds. Their number is 08708 371371; their website portal for bookings for trains within continental Europe is http://www.raileurope.co.uk/europeantickets/default.asp -- click on 'Spanish trains'.
